About Us...
Our mission is to put a focus on making Mental Wellness a priority and easier to talk about.
Our workshops are led by qualified mental health and wellness professionals. We are dedicated Mental Wellness advocates who are passionate about providing a safe space that we wished existed when we were younger. We feel that our time, experience, and education are only useful if we have an opportunity to share them with those who would benefit from it.

Nicole Cherbakova, BA
New Start Groups Board Secretary

My name is Nicole, I am 24 years old,
and I have a Bachelor of Arts degree
in psychology from William Paterson
University. I am a currently a graduate
student at Rutgers University, studying
for a Master's degree in Social Work. I plan to do therapy with children and teenagers once I become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as I believe beginning therapy at a young age is more effective than starting later.

I joined Gina in facilitating workshops at New Start Groups from its founding, in July of 2022. I have struggled with mental health since I was a teenager and was always searching for a safe space that was cost-free, as I did not have a steady income. As I started facilitating workshops with Gina, I felt excited and grateful to be able to provide an accessible safe space for other people. I have loved getting to know and learning from everyone that has attended our workshops. I look forward to cultivating new relationships and opportunities that come our way.

New Start Groups Certified Yoga Instructor

I am honored to lead the Restorative
Yoga Workshops. I believe that this
practice is a beautiful way to
connect with community and mostly
find connection, peace, and ease
within oneself. This yoga workshop
is not limited to the physical practice,
since it combines breathing and
meditation techniques, so that we
can begin to connect our mind, body, and spirit to discover that what we’ll need is already inside of us. We just need the space for this healing journey and inner growth to happen.
When I'm not guiding a yoga class, you can find me on an early morning hiking trail, being the best pet mom to my two dogs and cat, or making wrestling cosumes!

Gina Naumov, MA, LPC, NCC, CCTP-II
New Start Groups Founding President

With over two decades of experience in
the Mental Health field, I am passionate
about my work as a psychotherapist.
My journey from a survivor of child
abuse to a Board Certified Licensed
Professional Counselor and Level 2
Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
has led me to establish New Start
Groups, a NJ Nonprofit Corporation in
addition to my private practice, New Start Counseling, LLC. This is why I am dedicated to providing a safe space for individuals who feel like they have nowhere to turn.
Since childhood, I aspired to be a psychotherapist, and after a decade of dreaming about creating a Nonprofit Organization, I finally found the inspiration and support after serendipitously meeting someone who convinced me to make it a reality. I am proud of the progress we have made and am excited to continue growing and expanding the impact of our organization by helping even more people through their healing journey.
Growing Our Vision...
Are we really taking care of ourselves and each other when we mindlessly ask "How are you?" and end our interactions with a generic "Take care of yourself"? It's time to start taking these phrases seriously and truly prioritize our physical and mental well-being.
Investing in your physical and mental wellness is crucial, but unfortunately, it's not always accessible to everyone. Expensive organic foods and gym memberships, therapy, and psychiatric help are often only available to those who can afford them. This leaves many individuals without the support they need to thrive.
We are dedicated to providing Mental Wellness workshops in a safe space. While we do not provide Group Therapy, we do encourage individuals to share their stories, receive encouragement, and work towards their dreams and aspirations. And the best part? We offer these workshops for free, because we believe that everyone deserves access to the help they need.
But we can't do this alone. We need your help to spread the word about New Start Groups. By attending our workshops, special events, and/or becoming a volunteer, you have the power to make a tangible impact on the lives of individuals who are desperately seeking a safe space to openly discuss the often stigmatized topic of Mental Health. So if you believe in our cause, I urge you to donate &/or fill out our Volunteer Application today. Together, we can create a world where no one has to suffer in silence.
