Who I Help

People often reach out when they’re overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand.  Some have a clear reason for starting therapy.  Others just know something isn’t working anymore.

I work with adults and adolescents who are struggling with:

  • Trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma

  • Anxiety and chronic stress

  • Depression, numbness, or emotional shutdown

  • Self‑harm and difficulty regulating emotions

  • Grief and loss

  • Parenting stress and family conflict

  • Relationship challenges and life transitions

  • Women’s issues and identity-related stress

Therapy is collaborative and paced to meet you where you are.  There’s no pressure to disclose everything at once, and no expectation that healing looks the same for everyone.

Welcome

"Gina is a wonderful therapist.  She is a good listener.  She is punctual, attentive, and easy to schedule.  She puts the time into getting to know the individual person and helps you discover that you are the “pilot,” and she is just the “co-pilot.”  I would highly recommend her!!" - C.S.

Services

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or alone?
I help adults and teens build real-world coping skills, navigate trauma, and find stability without judgment.  I offer individual, couples, and family psychotherapy for adults and adolescents, provided in my Woodbridge office or through secure Telehealth sessions.

My approach is trauma‑informed, practical, and grounded in both clinical training and real‑world experience.  Sessions focus on helping you feel more stable, understood, and capable of coping in daily life, not just gaining insight, but experiencing real change.

Therapeutic Approaches

Rather than using a one‑size‑fits‑all model, I draw from multiple evidence‑based and trauma‑informed approaches, tailoring treatment to each patient’s needs.

Modalities may include:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • Trauma‑informed psychotherapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Schema‑Focused Therapy

  • Gestalt Therapy

  • Existential Therapy

  • Brief, solution‑focused approaches

  • Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy

  • Mind‑body–based interventions

Therapy isn’t about labels or over-analyzing every thought.  It’s about helping your nervous system settle, building practical coping skills, and creating lasting change that actually shows up outside my office.

FAQ

What are your fees?
The initial intake evaluation is $165 for a 90‑minute session.  This extended session allows time to review history, understand current concerns, and determine how I can best support you.  Individual therapy sessions are $140 for 60 minutes.  Couples and family therapy sessions are $150 for 60 minutes.

Do you accept insurance?
I am a private‑pay, out‑of‑network provider. Many patients choose to use out‑of‑network benefits, and I can provide documentation for reimbursement if applicable.

Do you offer Telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth sessions are available for patients who prefer to meet from home.

What is a free consultation?
A brief conversation to ask questions, discuss concerns, and see if we’re a good fit before scheduling an intake.

What should I expect in therapy?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve had past experiences that weren’t helpful.  Sessions are structured, supportive, and focused on your goals.  We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable, prioritize safety and regulation, and work toward practical tools you can use in your daily life.  You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to start — that’s part of the process.

FAQ

"I am a client of Gina and highly recommend her.  I’ve cycled through many therapists, and she has been the only one who has been truthful, assertive, firm, and insightful. Honestly, this is so hard to find, and I couldn’t be any more grateful for her.  She talks to me and treats me like a human being, not like a subject that has an issue, but a client who will gain the motivation to integrate change into my life." - J.S.

Workshops & Special Events

In addition to private therapy, I offer no-costdonation-based workshops & low‑cost special events through New Start Groups, a NJ Nonprofit Corporation.  Our workshops are educational and experiential in nature and are designed to provide meaningful mental wellness support in a low‑pressure, accessible format.  They are not group therapy and do not replace individual counseling.  Our special events allow us to bring in unique, powerful practices and experienced facilitators while keeping participation affordable.  Fees are kept intentionally low and are used solely to cover materials, space, or supplies — not profit.  These community-based offerings are intentionally designed to remove financial barriers for people who want to care for their mental wellness but can't afford the full price of wellness services.  Both workshops and special events are facilitated by qualified professionals, including Certified Yoga Instructors and a Board‑Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

Past special events have included Reiki Sound Bowl Meditations, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and other restorative, mind‑body practices that participants consistently describe as grounding, meaningful, and impactful.  These events often sell out and are especially valued by individuals seeking something deeper than a typical class or studio experience.

Why Workshops?

Not everyone needs, or is ready for, ongoing therapy.  Workshops offer a structured way to learn skills, experience regulation, and feel supported without the commitment or intensity of weekly sessions.  Many participants attend workshops alongside therapy, before starting therapy, or simply as a standalone form of peer-led support.

Adult Wellness Workshops (18+)

These discussion‑based workshops provide a supportive space for adults to explore topics such as stress, relationships, emotional regulation, boundaries, and life transitions.  Each workshop blends guided conversation with practical coping tools and grounding techniques.  Adult workshops are ideal for those who want insight, connection, and tools without the pressure of individual therapy.

Teen Wellness Workshops (12-17)

Teen workshops are designed to be age‑appropriate, supportive, and engaging.  The focus is on emotional awareness, coping skills, communication, and connection without judgment, pressure, or forced participation.  These workshops are especially helpful for teens who feel overwhelmed, isolated, misunderstood, or unsure how to talk about what they’re experiencing.

Mind & Body Wellness Workshops (16+)

"Mind Your Body" is a guided, body‑based workshop focused on nervous system regulation rather than discussion.  Each workshop follows a consistent structure, so participants know what to expect.  Practices may include grounding meditation, guided imagery, myofascial tissue release, vagus nerve regulation, trauma‑informed yoga, and other gentle movement techniques.  There is no group sharing, no analysis, and no expectation to perform.  Participants simply follow the guidance and allow the body to settle.  This workshop is especially helpful for individuals who feel chronically tense, overstimulated, emotionally shut down, or exhausted, and who want a reset they can actually feel.

Who Workshops Are (and Are Not) For

Workshops are a good fit if you’re looking for advanced practical tools, nervous system support, or a sense of connection in a structured environment.  Workshops may not be the right fit if you’re seeking crisis intervention, individual treatment planning, or ongoing psychotherapy.  In those cases, private therapy is recommended.

Important Note

Workshops are educational and supportive experiences and are not psychotherapy or group therapy.  Participation does not establish a therapist‑patient relationship.  Current workshop/special events dates, details, and registration links are available through New Start Groups.

About Me...

My name is Gina Naumov

My name is Gina Naumov, and I am a Board-Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field.

I don’t come to this work only through training but through lived experience.  As a survivor of childhood abuse, I understand firsthand how trauma can shape the way people think, feel, and move through the world. That understanding informs my work every day and allows me to meet patients with compassion, realism, and respect.

In addition to my private practice, New Start Counseling, LLC, I am the founder of New Start Groups, a New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation created to provide access to mental wellness support for everyone, with or without a diagnosis.  I also work with the Woodbridge Police Department’s Juvenile Station House Adjustment Program, supporting adolescents and families during critical moments of intervention.

At the core of my work is a simple belief: people heal best when they feel safe, seen, and not judged. My goal is to provide a steady, supportive space for individuals and families who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure where to turn next.
